Are Invisalign and ClearCorrect braces similar?

Invisalign braces are the go-to treatment option for individuals concerned about cosmetics and those who dislike a metallic taste in their mouths. However, if you've been looking them up, you may probably have come across ClearCorrect braces. These are pretty similar to Invisalign braces, but there are a few differences. So, which ones should you choose? Here's what you need to know to make an informed decision.

Material composition and comfort

Initially, Invisalign and ClearCorrect shared the same material (polyurethane resin plastic). However, Align Technology company developed a patented thermoplastic material known as SmartTrack. This is the material currently used for Invisalign braces, and it has three main benefits: 

• Speeds up treatment
• Makes it easier and more gentle for you to remove and insert them 
• Increases mouth comfort

Treatment precision

The technology used to prepare Invisalign braces makes them fit more accurately on your teeth than ClearCorrect aligners. This is because everything about Invisalign braces is computerised. 

ClearCorrect aligners are also suitable. The only fact that may slightly affect precision is that ClearCorrect braces are manually cut after they are scanned and 3D printed. 

Invisalign treatment options

There are five main Invisalign treatment options based on the severity of your condition. The less severe your condition is, the cheaper the treatment. Here are the different Invisalign treatment options, from most affordable to expensive:

• Invisalign Express 5 – this treatment is used for minor malocclusions like spaces in your teeth or some minor crowding. Expect at most five sets of Invisalign trays.
• Invisalign i7 – this is similar to the Express 5 treatment option. The only difference is that you'll require seven sets of Invisalign trays in this case.
• Invisalign Express 10 – this treatment option is also used for minor occlusions that may require ten sets of Invisalign trays. 
• Invisalign Lite – this treatment option is suitable for moderate conditions that may require 14 sets of Invisalign trays. 
• Invisalign Full – this treatment option is suitable for severe malocclusion cases and involves using more than 14 sets of Invisalign trays. 

ClearCorrect treatment options

There are three main ClearCorrect treatment options, and like Invisalign, they are based on your condition's severity. 

• Limited 6 – this treatment option is used for minor malocclusion cases and involves using six sets of ClearCorrect trays.
• Limited 12 – this option is similar to the Limited 6 treatment option but involves using up to 12 sets of ClearCorrect trays.
• Unlimited – this is the treatment option used for severe malocclusion cases and involves using more than 12 sets of ClearCorrect trays.
